A new weekly event with health, well-being and community at its heart has launched in Copenhagen, and it is open to everyone every Wednesday night through the autumn season.

Wednesday's have a new healthy beat in Copenhagen

SPOR10 is a community, sports and culture hub in a former railway depot. In October, they kicked off a weekly open-house called SPOR10 Onsdage (Wednesday), with activities for the whole family. Cities Changing Diabetes is a founding partner of SPOR10 and is fully behind creating an urban neighbourhood resource that reflects the programme’s values of strong, supportive communities with safe places to be physically active and share healthy food – all under one (enormous) roof!

SPOR10 has geared up quickly from its launch in July, when it hosted a high-level global delegation event as part of the International Union of Architects (UIA) World Congress. Now a full range of activities and facilities are open to all – and there is something for everyone, with specially created classes and activities for everyone at all ages catered to, and its free to join in.

Cities Changing Diabetes has been advocating for cities to be enabling places for health for almost ten years, and it is exciting that we have this opportunity to play a role in creating a neighbourhood asset that reflects the programme’s core values.

Learn more about the synergies with the Cities Changing Diabetes mindset and the SPOR10 facility here. Free indoor activities include floorball, gymnastics and boxing, and outdoors, there are physically active e-sports, saunas and ice baths to try. Even if you are too far away to join in, check out the full programme to see all the fun activities and events SPOR10 has in store, and maybe be inspired to replicate in your city.
