Our energetic partners in Germany continue to find new ways of reaching more communities and have brought a new city health project to life in Bayreuth, a small Bavarian city in Germany. Earlier this year, Bayreuth Mayor Thomas Ebersberger and the District Administrator, Florian Wiedemann, signed the Urban Diabetes Declaration and lent their support to a campaign concept called “Driving Change for Healthy Cities”. Our partners grew this idea into a city health event at the main town square.

Driving change for healthy cities in Bayreuth, Germany

Opportunities to take part in physical activities, including Zumba, Cliffhanger and running challenges were free of charge and blood glucose measurement and healthy nutrition-based activities were available. A great initiative to push programme impact into smaller cities – kudos and well done to all involved!
